Thank you so much for your prayers and support to us. It is now over a month when turmoil and violence struck our country and lots of destruction and loss of lives including 2 Members of parliament. Life is changing very fast in this country. This due to disputed flawed election of 2007.

Relief!
January 30th, 2008This from surgeon Peter Byrd who helped with the escort.
Hi all,
Just back from our little trip. We’ve heard from David and he’s passed Narok now (1030am), so well on the way to safety.
We left at 0530, went down the Kijabe airstrip road, passed Maai Mahiu and out into the Valley. At Suswa, there was no signage, so we went the wrong way for 20min, then turned back to Suswa. At the same time, David and his group had left their safe compound and gone to the Hell’s Gate National Park entrance Naivasha end, close to where they were staying. That’s where we were to meet, but as we were delayed, they paid the entrance fee and started driving through the park, north to south. We found a Maasai “guide” who wanted a lift(!) but knew the way to the south gate of the park. It was a meandering track across the Valley so good (thanks pray-ers!) that we had the guide. We met David before the gate and they were very relieved! The drive back to Suswa was fine. We topped up their fuel and gave them 10,000/=.($150)
So thankyou all for your prayers. No doubt a relatively easy “rescue” because we were covered by the multitude.
Blessings
Peter
I received this from my friend Millie Bransford this morning.
David with 8 in his car has been escorted out of Naivasha by Peter Bird and Steve McMillan this morning at 5AM. They are as far as Suswa now and he will then head out by Narok driving his own vehicle. All are well and I will write again when I hear that Peter is back.
Dick also escorted a group this morning and carried out two mamas and their babies from the hospital so that they could get home. He has been out at 5AM for two mornings in a row and at 6 the morning before that. We also twice had Luos sleep at our house, for there is so much fear. We got a carload to Nairobi two days ago. I do not know how many will ever come back, but I think most do not want their children ever to experience that kind of trauma again. Jobs? However the parents do need their jobs, don’t they? What to do? Keep praying and pleading diligently for this land! Love, Millie

I talked with David about an hour ago (around 3:00 PM in Kenya).
He was about 10 miles from home in the near by town of Sondu - they stopped to get a coke. How close to normal is that!?
Their drive home was relatively uneventful after the got out of Naivasha through a national park.
He sounded giddy.
We plan to wire some money today - David is out of a job, so I guess he will be working full time for Project AIDS Orphan now.
Thank you for all your prayers, positive thoughts, and concerns.
Please continue your prayers, thoughts, activism for what is now being called “ethnic cleansing” in Kenya.

January 29th, 2008IF you PRAY, DO IT NOW!
January 27th, 2008I cannot begin to describe the helplessness I feel right now as our friend and advocate, caregiver and rescuer of orphans, David Okongo, text messaged my husband Paul in the early hours of this morning with this message, “Pray for us, we are under siege here in Naivasha.” David works for a horticulture corporation in […]
